Bonsai is the art of cultivating real, living plants to reproduce the appearance of mature trees in miniature.
Join us for an introduction to this captivating art form. The program will consist of an introduction to the art of bonsai, including its origin, distinct elements, and philosophies, followed by a demonstration in which participants will learn how to begin a bonsai. Participants already working with bonsai may bring their own trees for tips and suggestions.
This event will include a plant sale and light refreshments.
James (Barry) Figard is the Education Coordinator for the Maryland Bonsai Association. A bonsai enthusiast for more than 35 years, Barry says he has been passionate about sharing the art ever since he first discovered it. He enjoys introducing others to the many facets of bonsai and believes it offers a lifetime of learning, with something new to discover every day.
