Cookies Policy
Last updated: October 23, 2026
This notice explains cookies, local storage, scripts, pixels, and similar technologies used by the Sandy Spring Museum website. A cookie choice controls website technologies; it is not permission to subscribe you to email or publish information you submit.
How we use website technologies
Google Analytics 4 (GA4) provides basic visit statistics by default. Meta advertising tracking is optional and requires Marketing permission. Your newsletter subscription is a separate choice.
Necessary and requested functions
WordPress.com and Jetpack services support page delivery, security, and website operation. Login cookies apply when staff sign in. Browser storage may remember a cookie choice or a feature you request, such as closing the event pop-up for today. These functions do not depend on accepting marketing tracking. Security and technical server records are separate from optional advertising cookies.
Statistics
This website is directed to a US audience. Google Analytics 4 (GA4) measures visits and page use by default on this website to help operate and improve it, independently of Marketing permission. GA4 may process identifiers and technical information. This website’s Google tag disables Google Signals and ad-personalization signals and omits query strings from page and referrer URLs. Hosting, security, and platform performance records are separate.
Marketing
The museum’s Meta Pixel measures page visits for advertising only after you allow Marketing. Automatic advanced matching and automatic event detection are not enabled by this setup. Accept marketing allows this tracking; Reject marketing refuses it; Cookie Settings lets you change your choice. Global Privacy Control and Do Not Track signals are respected for marketing. Rejecting marketing does not disable basic visit statistics or prevent ordinary page access, form submission, newsletter signup, or external registration links.
External media and services
Requested videos and other third-party features may send technical information to their provider when loaded. A privacy-enhanced video address does not mean the provider receives no information. Where an external feature requires its own choice, follow the notice shown for that feature. External links remain available independently of this website’s marketing choice. The separate service’s own privacy and cookie controls apply after you leave this website.
Change your choice
Use Cookie Settings in the footer to reopen the controls and change a saved choice. Where supported, a privacy preference signal such as Global Privacy Control is respected by the consent manager. Withdrawing a choice prevents future optional loading controlled by this website; it does not recall information already sent or unsubscribe you from email. Browser settings can also remove stored information, but may affect login or remembered choices.
How long choices last
The consent manager remembers your choice for up to 180 days. Browser restrictions, clearing site data, or a material configuration change may cause the notice to appear again. Other storage periods depend on the function and provider. See the relevant provider’s privacy notice for further information.
Provider information
See the privacy notices for WordPress.com and Jetpack, Mailchimp, Google and YouTube, and Microsoft when using the relevant service. Additional providers will be listed if they are actually enabled.
