Ways to Give

A cash donation is one route. You can also make a gift of securities, IRA distributions, estates, and donor-advised funds. Be sure to ask your employer if they make matching gifts.

Stock Gift

Giving long-term, appreciated stocks and bonds can result in a double benefit for donors. You avoid capital gains tax and are eligible for a charitable tax deduction for the value of the securities on the day you transfer. Please click here for detailed information on how to make a stock transfer to Sandy Spring Museum. Gifts to be processed by year-end, must be sent by 12/20.

IRA Distribution

If you're age 70½ or older, a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) offers a simple way to support Sandy Spring Museum while potentially benefiting from favorable tax treatment. Your gift may be excluded from taxable income and can help satisfy your Required Minimum Distribution (RMD). To qualify, the distribution must be made directly from your IRA to Sandy Spring Museum (EIN 52-1224038). Please consult your IRA custodian or tax adviser regarding current rules and limits.

If your IRA custodian has provided you with an IRA checkbook, please write the check to Sandy Spring Museum. If you wish your gift to count toward the current calendar year, please consider mailing your check no later than December 1.

Note: Only traditional or Roth IRAs qualify for these donation benefits. Retirement plans, such as a 401k, 403b, and others, do NOT qualify.

Planned Giving

Please consider making Sandy Spring Museum a beneficiary of your estate to ensure that our community museum remains vibrant for future generations.

If you have questions about planned giving or would like to share your plans with the museum, please Email Patrick Salami or call (301) 774-0022 ext. 110.
